GROZNY, Russia — Two British aid workers have been kidnapped in Chechnya, the latest in a wave of abductions that have plagued the southern republic, Russian news agencies reported Saturday.
John James and his wife, Camille Carr, were taken by masked gunmen late Thursday or early Friday in the Chechen capital of Grozny.
Three people have been held for questioning, the Interfax news agency said, citing the Chechen Interior Ministry.
Chechen leaders consider their republic independent, but Moscow still considers it part of Russia.
