California coastal commissioners will hold a four-day meeting in Ventura this week to consider a variety of development and planning issues.
The commission will spend this afternoon on a helicopter tour of oil platform Gail near Anacapa Island, and will hold meetings Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn, 450 E. Harbor Blvd.
On Tuesday afternoon, commissioners will travel to Ventura Harbor to visit the proposed housing development site.
Commissioners will then board a bus to tour environmentally sensitive lagoons at Oxnard’s Ormond Beach, and later visit public access areas at Point Dume State Preserve in Malibu.
On Wednesday, the commission will consider a coastal plan amendment to allow a 300-home development on a 20-acre site near the mouth of Ventura Harbor.
Later Wednesday, the commission will consider an appeal of a permit issued by Ventura County allowing Pacific Bell to install a 35-foot cellular telephone tower near Faria County Park.
