LANCASTER — A 23-year-old Lancaster man was shot and critically wounded early Sunday after a loud argument with the gunman, sheriff’s deputies said.
Derrick Mitchell, who was shot three times in the upper torso, was listed in critical but stable condition at Antelope Valley Hospital, said Lt. Steven Fredericks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Witnesses told deputies that Mitchell and another man were arguing outside Mitchell’s house on Beech Avenue just after midnight when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Mitchell. As the gunman fled in a car, Mitchell ran inside his house and collapsed.
A suspect has been identified, but Fredericks said no arrests have been made. “At this point the shooting looks as if it could be gang-related,” he said.
