Suspect With His Children in Van Leads L.A. Police on Hourlong Case

A man upset about his ex-wife’s restraining order against him took his children on an erratic, hour-long police chase along the Harbor Freeway before giving himself up, police said.
The chase, which began near Manchester and Van Ness avenues in South Los Angeles, started at about 6 p.m., when the still-unidentified man put his children in the back of his white van and led police on a chase, Los Angeles Police Officer Don Cox said. Police said they did not know how many children the man has, nor their ages and genders.
Police stopped the van near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and persuaded the man--against whom a domestic violence-related restraining order existed--to surrender, Cox said.
