A Compton man was shot and killed after returning to the East Rancho Dominguez neighborhood where his ear had been slashed during an argument five hours earlier, a sheriff’s deputy said Tuesday.
Demetrus Overton, 27, had just received medical treatment for the ear injury when he apparently headed back to the 15400 block of South Frailey Avenue late Monday, Deputy Bob Killeen said. Overton was shot at 10:15 p.m., and pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center at 12:48 a.m. Tuesday, Killeen said.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating the shooting Tuesday, and no arrests had been made.
