House OKs Breast Cancer Stamp
The House voted 422-3 to approve a measure creating a breast cancer postage stamp to help fund research into the disease. The stamp would be priced 1 cent above the normal first-class postage, with the extra penny earmarked for breast cancer research. At current rates, the special stamp would cost 33 cents. The post office had opposed creating a stamp to raise money for one specific cause but lawmakers argued that it made sense to raise money for research on the deadly disease. The Senate approved similar legislation last week. (Related story, E1)
