Elementary, Middle School Teachers Get 4.65% Raise

Public school teachers recently won a 4.65% pay raise.
The Fountain Valley School District Board of Trustees and the Fountain Valley Education Assn., a teachers union, agreed upon a 4.65% salary increase for about 300 teachers. Negotiations went smoothly and trustees quickly approved the adjustment, officials said.
The raises are retroactive to July 1, said Susan Grantham, executive assistant to the superintendent.
Classified employees, such as support staff members, are negotiating salary adjustments, an issue that may be discussed at the Oct. 9 board meeting.
Teachers in the district received a 3.21% cost-of-living adjustment last year.
The raise applies only to the district’s elementary and middle schools. Staff members at Fountain Valley High School belong to the Huntington Beach Union High School District, which has a separate school board.
