Saloon Allowed to Sell Hard Liquor

A well-known neighborhood tavern won unanimous support from the Planning Commission Wednesday to start serving hard liquor.
The Doheny Saloon, a 30-year institution in Doheny Beach, had been limited to beer and wine.
City officials agreed to allow the change, pointing out that there are few schools or churches in the primarily commercial area, and only one other restaurant in the vicinity that offers a full bar.
A Sheriff’s Department report indicated that compared to other bars in Dana Point, disturbances at the Doheny Saloon have been minimal.
