Redlands East Valley 53, Lancaster 8--The Eagles (2-3) didn’t enjoy their long trip to Redlands.
La Canada 18, Hoover 0--Wingback Greg Swensen rushed 12 times for 115 yards and one touchdown for La Canada (4-1), which, under first-year Coach Rich Wheeler, already has equaled its victory total of last year.
Jeff Spangler’s 43-yard touchdown run on La Canada’s second play from scrimmage gave the Spartans a 6-0 halftime lead.
Swensen scored on a 67-yard run on La Canada’s first play of the second half and reserve quarterback Mike Olson added a 46-yard touchdown run later in the third quarter.
Running back Jason Young, out the last two weeks with an ankle injury, gained 61 yards in 16 carries for Hoover (1-4).
The Tornadoes’ best opportunity to score came in the final three minutes, when they drove to the La Canada nine-yard line. They turned the ball over on downs at the Spartan 16.
