Hernandez to Respond to Campaign Allegations

Benny Hernandez, former campaign field director for Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove), will hold a news conference Tuesday to respond to allegations that he advised a couple to vote illegally in November’s election.
The announcement had been scheduled for Friday but was postponed, in part, because of a change in attorneys, said Hernandez, who is now represented by Joseph Dunn of Costa Mesa. Hernandez said he will release results of a polygraph test, which he said shows he was telling the truth when he denied giving improper advice.
The couple’s testimony before a congressional task force in April was cited by attorneys for former Rep. Robert K. Dornan as evidence of a systematic effort to sign up noncitizens to vote. Dornan, who was defeated by 984 votes, has claimed the election was marred by massive vote fraud.
