Pair’s Sentencing in Child’s Death Delayed
- Share via
The sentencing of an Oxnard couple found guilty last month of killing their 2-year-old daughter has been postponed for two weeks while their defense attorneys prepare motions asking for a new trial.
Rogelio Hernandez, 20, will be sentenced for first-degree murder and torture in the beating death of his daughter, Joselin.
His 19-year-old estranged wife, Gabriela, will be sentenced for second-degree murder for allowing the abuse of her daughter over her short life.
Attorneys for both defendants are requesting a new trial, saying that their clients were unfairly tried together.
The couple are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 27.
