Pedestrian Bridge Funding
I was disappointed that the Ventura City Council voted not to fund a pedestrian / bicycle bridge over Highway 126.
This vote denies that the council has a community spirit. It denies that children need safe access to Anacapa and Elmhurst schools if they choose to walk or ride their bicycles. It denies children easy walking access to their school friends on the south or the north side of the freeway. It denies the connection of two disconnected bicycle routes.
With the vote of 6-1, six council members voted to turn back more than $1.6 million that will be lost to this city for this project . . . forever. I am sorry for this city. The loss of this community will be felt on both sides of 126 . . . forever.
