Ids Postma of the Netherlands won the Olympic gold medal in men’s 1,000-meter speedskating, finishing in 1 minute 10.64 seconds. His teammate, Jan Bos, won the silver in 1:10.71, and Hiroyasu Shimizu of Japan was third in 1:11.0.
