Universal Studios Child Care Center will join with the Child Care Resource Center to offer a series of child-care seminars and programs for the community.
The first seminar, “What Is Quality Care?” will be held today, followed by “Effective Parent-Teacher Communication” on Tuesday and “Brain Development of Children” on Wednesday. All seminars will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Universal City Plaza.
In addition, as part of a monthlong Stand for Quality Child Care campaign, Universal will stage a fund-raiser to benefit local child-care providers from 10 a.m. to noon June 13.
“We hope this outreach campaign will be a great learning experience for us all and will lead to developing even better child-care opportunities for the community,” said Linda Bird-Davies, the director of Universal Studios Child Care Center.
Throughout June, communities nationwide will participate in a campaign to focus attention on the importance of quality, affordable child care and after-school activities.
Begun in 1996 in Washington, D.C., when more than 300,000 supporters staged a demonstration for children, Stand for Children, an affiliate of the Children’s Defense Fund, works to build grass-roots support to improve children’s lives through policy change and service initiatives.
