Macare Will Coach Soccer at Concordia

Laguna Hills girls’ soccer Coach Kevin Macare has been hired as the women’s soccer coach at Concordia, it was announced Monday.
Macare played at Concordia from 1988-91 and has compiled a 119-57-24 record at Laguna Hills in eight seasons. Macare will continue to teach and coach girls’ soccer at Laguna Hills.

Seven players from Orange County have been selected to the national junior water polo team, the team’s coach, Jim Brumm, said Monday.
The county players, five of them high school seniors, are: Todd Hylton (Costa Mesa High), Matt Flesher (Brea Olinda), Jon Pharris (Newport Harbor), Kyle Baumgarner (Villa Park), Nick Pacelli (Villa Park), John Dorfi of UC Irvine and Matt Sakatani, a former El Toro standout who plays at Long Beach State.
The national junior team is made up of 22 field players and five goalkeepers.
Brumm, who coaches at Foothill High, said the team will start working out in two weeks in Orange County. The team will travel to Havana July 20 for the junior championships.
