Opponents of Soka Expansion Sue Coastal Panel
- Share via
As expected, opponents of Soka University filed suit against the state Coastal Commission on Monday for approving the school’s plans to expand its campus in a valley in the Santa Monica Mountains.
Commissioners failed to follow their own policies and did not give a fair hearing to the Sierra Club, neighborhood groups and other opponents of the project when they voted in April to allow the school to increase enrollment from 150 to 800 students, the suit alleges.
The suit by attorney Frank Angel is the latest legal salvo in the long-running battle against the university, situated at Las Virgenes Road and Mulholland Highway.
