A man being sought in connection with crimes in San Bernardino and Orange counties held a police SWAT team in an hours-long standoff Friday night in Costa Mesa, authorities said.
The incident began at 3 p.m. when police received at call to the 2100 block of Canyon Drive, where a resident reported that Michael Ralph Wofford, 37, was in a nearby apartment complex, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Kevin Lovelady said.
Police had been pursuing Wofford since late May in connection with several robberies and burglaries, Lovelady said.
Officers tried to serve Wofford with a warrant Friday, but he refused to leave the residence.
Wofford had not surrendered as of late Friday.
