Testimony Ends in McKinney Sex Trial
Testimony ended in the sexual-misconduct court-martial of the Army’s onetime top enlisted soldier with defense witnesses questioning the credibility of his main accuser. Closing arguments in Sgt. Maj. Gene C. McKinney’s 5-week-old trial were set for today. McKinney, 47, faces 19 charges, ranging from adultery, a crime in the military, to obstruction of justice. Six military women allege he groped them or crudely pressured them for sex. McKinney could get up to 55 1/2 years in prison if convicted. He has said the women are lying, for revenge or other reasons.
