Judge Denies Release of Bombing Figure

From Times Wire Reports

A federal judge refused to release Michael Fortier from prison and ruled that the deaths of the 168 people killed in the Oklahoma City bombing should be taken into account in sentencing him. Fortier’s lawyers had urged that he be released because he gave key evidence in the case against convicted bomber Timothy J. McVeigh and co-conspirator Terry L. Nichols even though Fortier knew of the bomb plot and did nothing to stop it. U.S. District Judge G. Thomas Van Bebber set a sentencing guideline of 14 to 17 1/2 years.
