Ventura County officials and representatives from area social agencies will be on hand Tuesday to celebrate the launch of the county’s first transitional housing program for foster youth.
Supervisor Frank Schillo will be among those at the event, which will begin at 3 p.m. at the Shadow Hills apartment complex, 275 Wilbur Road, in Thousand Oaks.
Created as part of a state-mandated pilot project, the transitional housing program aims to introduce youths 17 and 18 to independent living.
The program has placed five participants in the transitional housing apartments at Shadow Hills, and seven more are expected to be in by the end of the year.
