Applicants Sought for Theater Board

The city of Thousand Oaks is seeking applicants for a vacant position on the Performing Arts Center Board of Governors, a 15-member group that advises the City Council and the city theaters director on theater issues.
The seat was left vacant by the departure last month of five-year board member Larry Janss, whose term expires in November 2000. Councilwoman Linda Parks will recommend an appointment, which the council must approve.
Parks said the city is looking for someone who can help get more children’s performances staged and who has fund-raising experience.
The volunteer board meets bimonthly at the Civic Arts Plaza and provides advice on matters such as theater programming and scheduling, youth and educational opportunities and Civic Arts Plaza marketing. Applications must be turned in by May 29.
The board is also a nonprofit organization that sponsors performing-arts programming and educational activities at the Civic Arts Plaza. It awards grants to groups that use the plaza’s auditorium and Forum Theatre.
For an application or more information, contact the city clerk’s office at (805) 449-2151.
