Anne Kenney; Honored for Volunteer Work

Anne Kenney, who was given the Cardinal’s Award in 1993 by the Los Angeles Roman Catholic Archdiocese for her many years of volunteer work, has died. She was 84. The Cardinal’s Award is the highest recognition given by the archdiocese to individuals for church and community volunteer work. She was a member of the lay board at Daniel Freeman Medical Center, a member of the board of trustees at the Don Bosco Technical Institute and was in charge of numerous special projects for the United Way. Kenney grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Manual Arts High School. She worked at Pacific Bell for 21 years, where she met her husband, James Kenney, Southern California vice president for the company. She retired in 1958 as a manager in the commercial department. Kenney died Thursday at St. John’s Hospital. A funeral Mass will be held today at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church in Beverly Hills. The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. She is survived by her husband.
