New Fire Station Expected to Aid Response Time

County and city officials Wednesday dedicated a new county fire station, saying the state-of-the art facility will reduce response time to local emergencies.
Industry Mayor Dave Winn, aided by county Fire Chief P. Michael, sliced the ribbon in ceremonies complete with gleaming firetrucks and attended by more than 125 residents, firefighters and officials.
County Fire Station 118, in the 17000 block of Industry’s Gale Avenue, replaces an aging station at Gale and Azusa avenues, one of the busiest intersection in the region. Firefighters leaving the old station had been subject to occasional delays in emergency response because of traffic.
Freeman said the quicker egress at the new station will reduce response times.
In addition, the new station provides extra space for the county fire district’s administrative offices, officials said.
