Recreation Panel to Consider Skate Park
The Ojai Parks and Recreation Commission will meet tonight to discuss building a new skate park in the city.
Recreation Director Carol Belser will recommend that a three-member task force begin planning for the development of a skate park in the 100 block of Blanche Street. City officials and property owner Lance Smigel have already negotiated the lease of the 75-by-150-square-foot lot to the city for a skate park for two to five years.
“Although this is a temporary solution, this is terrific news, because securing a location for a skate area has been the one obstacle we have yet to overcome,” said Belser.
Belser will suggest that the task force consider using a local architect for the design of the park and working with community members in the development of the park.
The commission will meet at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at 401 S. Ventura St.
