St. Paul 28, St. Francis 8--The Swordsmen coasted to a Mission League victory at St. Francis.
Making matters worse for the Golden Knights (5-4, 1-1), leading rusher Murice Law suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter and did not return.
Coach Bill Redell said Law, who rushed for 81 yards in 22 carries and has 856 yards in 163 carries this season, will be reexamined today or Monday and is questionable for Friday’s showdown with Alemany.
St. Paul (8-1, 1-1), ranked No. 3 in Southern Section Division III, took a 7-0 lead when Mike Holloway intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown late in the first quarter.
The Swordsmen extended their lead to 21-0 lead by halftime on touchdown passes by Jon Montes of 84 yards to Marcell Almond and 15 yards to Ryan Goosby.
The Golden Knights were limited to 185 yards.
John Sciarra completed seven of 15 passes for 79 yards, including a one-yard touchdown pass to Mike Lynch with 28 seconds to play.
