An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in a car in a possibly gang-related drive-by shooting Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Arthur Negrette of Pico Rivera was shot in the upper body about 1:30 p.m and pronounced dead at a local hospital, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy John McBride. Two others in the car escaped injury, he said.
The attack occurred near Gallatin Road and Durfee Avenue when another car drove alongside Negrette’s vehicle and a gunman opened fire, McBride said. Negrette, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was hit at least once in the upper body.
Deputies believe the shooting was gang-related, although they do not know whether Negrette was a gang member, McBride said.
