A fire raced up a chaparral canyon just west of the Griffith Observatory Monday afternoon, briefly threatening a concession stand but causing no damages or injuries, fire official said.
The brush fire was reported at 4:26 p.m. and took slightly more than an hour to knock down, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Three helicopters and 90 firefighters fought the flames, which burned a total of five acres, Humphrey said.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
