Kate Ides, who helped Brea Olinda win a girls’ basketball state title last season, made an oral commitment to attend Harvard, Ladycat Coach Jeff Sink said Friday.
Ides, a 6-foot 1 1/2-inch forward, averaged 11 points and 7.2 rebounds, and shot 63.3% from the field--fourth-best in the county--last season.

The Brazilian women’s national volleyball team, the top-ranked team in the world, will play an exhibition scrimmage match Saturday at El Dorado High, girls’ volleyball Coach Craig Tefertiller said. The exhibition begins at 5 p.m. and admission is $2.
