In other Northwest Valley Conference games:
Taft 28, Birmingham 9--Brandon Hance threw two nine-yard touchdown passes and scored on a one-yard run and the Toreadors won their 19th consecutive conference game at Birmingham.
Hance completed 14 of 27 passes for 119 yards. K.C. Bounds and Ronald Andrews each caught a touchdown pass.
The Patriots (1-6, 0-4) used a double-wing offense to slow the Toreadors and did not throw a pass in first half.
Howard Jones rushed for 120 yards in 20 carries but fumbled twice, which led to two touchdowns by Taft (6-1, 4-0).
John Wall made field goals of 30, 30 and 27 yards, but missed a 61-yard kick near the end of the first half. Wall has scored all of Birmingham’s points in three of the last four games.
Marquis Brignac of Taft rushed for 67 yards in seven carries before injuring his left hand in the second quarter. Brignac is expected to return next week.
