Harvard-Westlake Gets Its Revenge

Peter Hudnut and Brian Ault each scored four goals and the Harvard-Westlake water polo team avenged an earlier loss to San Clemente with an 11-6 nonleague victory Saturday at Harvard-Westlake.

Harvard-Westlake (15-2), ranked fifth in Southern Section Division I, was defeated by San Clemente, 11-9, in overtime two weeks ago in the Southern California Invitational.

Saturday, the Wolverines took a 4-1 first-period lead on two goals by Hudnut and one by Ault and Bill Strickland, who scored twice.

Jason Malinsky also scored for Harvard-Westlake. Goalie Joe Axelrod made 13 saves.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Nordhoff tournament--Buena defeated Thousand Oaks, 15-12, 15-3, to win the tournament championship.

Buena setter-outside hitter Krystal McFarland was selected the most valuable player of the tournament. Janee Richards of Buena was named the most valuable setter.

Renee Adams and Gina Aglietti were all-tournament selections for Buena, ranked No. 7 in the region by The Times.

The Bulldogs defeated Nordhoff in the semifinals, 15-12, 15-5.

Other all-tournament selections included Jenille Boston of Nordhoff and Amy Ashford and Elaina Delventhal of Thousand Oaks.

Highland tournament--Highland defeated Littlerock, 11-7, 11-6, to win the tournament championship.

Melissa Rawson, a senior middle blocker at Highland, was selected the tournament’s most valuable player.

In the semifinals, Highland defeated Frazier Mountain and Littlerock defeated Canyon.

Brentwood tournament--Chadwick defeated Village Christian for the tournament championship, 11-15, 15-10, 15-13.

Village Christian middle blocker Errin Benesh was selected the most valuable player.

Setter Tiffany Davis was an all-tournament selection for the Crusaders.

Cornerstone Christian d. Laguna Blanca, 16-14, 6-15, 15-7, 15-11--Alizabeth Johnston had 16 kills, 19 digs and seven blocks for host Cornerstone Christian (10-3, 5-2) in a Condor League match at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
