Day Runner Inc.’s planned $84.6-million acquisition of Filofax Group Plc, a British maker of paper-based organizers, was cleared by the United Kingdom’s secretary of state for trade and industry.
Day Runner, the Irvine-based maker of organizers and personal planners, hammered out a deal to buy Filofax late last month after first announcing an unsolicited bid for the competitor.
