Ventura College Student Dies in Crash

A Ventura College drama student died Sunday night after her car spun out of control and rolled over in a field near Victoria Avenue, authorities said.
Sarah Jane Tietjen, 21, of Port Hueneme was driving south near Olivas Park Road when, for unknown reasons, her car went off the road and down an embankment about 11:15 p.m.
Tietjen, who was wearing a seat belt, was awake and alert when paramedics arrived to pull her from the car. But Tietjen had lost consciousness by the time she arrived at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, authorities said.
She died at the hospital shortly after midnight of massive head injuries.
