Verdugo Hills Prepared for Fresh Start
Verdugo Hills wants to quickly forget last season after being outscored, 362-61. Coach Don Scott Jr. has done a near-complete overhaul. Only six players remain from last year’s squad, which was 0-10 overall and went 0-7 in the Northern Conference.
The quarterback will be senior Kevin Mugavero, a transfer from Kennedy. Senior linebackers Nathan Lukaszewski and Omar Contreras will anchor the defense.
Other than defending conference champion Franklin, the Dons should be able to compete with the rest of the Northern Conference.
Scott, who led Verdugo Hills to the 3-A playoffs in 1995 and 1996, thinks the postseason is not out of the question.
