Oak Park 24, El Segundo 7--Wide receiver Dan Schneider passed for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown and had a scoring reception to lead host Oak Park.
Oak Park, which was 1-9 last season, spotted El Segundo a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before Schneider threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Eric Daly on a flea-flicker late in the quarter.
Oak Park took the lead for good on a 47-yard field goal by Jesse Nicassio in the second quarter. Four minutes later, Schneider scored when he caught teammate Eric Smentek’s fumble and ran 37 yards for a touchdown.
Late in the third quarter, Schneider caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Nate Elder, who completed seven of 16 passes for 124 yards. Schneider intercepted a pass late in the game.
