Driver Shot to Death in Alley

EAST LOS ANGELES — A dispute between two drivers in an alley early Thursday ended with one of them shot to death and the other being sought by sheriff’s deputies, detectives said.
Officers said the victim, Joey Cardenas, 24, was a gang member but they did not know whether the shooting was gang-related.
The two cars, each containing several people, were heading toward each other in a one-way alley just off Whittier Boulevard and pulled to a stop at 12:21 a.m., said Sgt. George Ducoulombier. Ducoulombier said an argument ensued, and the driver of one car got out and fired eight shots into the other vehicle.
The gunman got back into his car and drove away, deputies said.
