Residents interested in a career in the arts can get a little help from the Friends of Cypress Cultural Arts with scholarship money. The awards, ranging from $100 to $1,000, must be used for artistic development, including tuition, private lessons or purchase of supplies. Visual arts applicants must present a portfolio with at least three work samples. Performers are expected to schedule an audition. The deadline is March 26 and applications may be picked up at all city facilities or by calling (714) 229-6780. Information: Betty Koester, (714) 826-9995.
