DOWNEY — A 21-year-old man who was stabbed behind a Downey motel remained hospitalized Friday in serious condition, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was stabbed numerous times, mostly in the back, and suffered a collapsed lung, said Downey Police Sgt. Steve Garza. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where doctors expect him to recover, Garza said.
The man told police he was attacked by a stranger behind the Court Yard motel on Firestone Boulevard as he bicycled to his sister’s home in Norwalk around 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Garza said. After the assault, the victim managed to drag himself to a nearby restaurant, where employees called police.
Detectives are urging anyone with more information to call Det. Ralph Bruner at (562) 904-2320.
