Chaminade High offensive lineman Justin Brown has committed to Fresno State.
Brown, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle, allowed only one sack this season and was a Times’ All-Valley selection.
Hart High retired the No. 8 jersey of quarterback Kyle Boller on Saturday at the school football banquet. He is the fourth Hart player to have his jersey retired, joining John Sheeler, Jim Bonds and Ted Iacenda.
Boller will take a recruiting visit to California this weekend before announcing his college choice. The Golden Bears and Oregon are his two finalists.
Cal State Northridge has received commitments from linebacker Barrett Woods of Anaheim Esperanza High and tight end Jay Marcus of Mt. San Jacinto College.
WRESTLING
Two Oxnard High wrestling coaches have been placed on administrative leave amid allegations by parents that they were drinking alcoholic beverages while the team competed in a tournament last month.
Chuck Cordes and Rocky Valles are no longer coaching, said Athletic Director Debbie Manuel, who declined further comment. A spokesman for the Oxnard Union High School District also declined comment.
Chuck Bowling has been selected coach for the remainder of the season.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal State Northridge guard Edniesha Curry was selected Big Sky Conference player of the week after scoring 44 points in two games.
