Trying to jump-start plans for a youth sports complex at Huntington Central Park, the City Council earlier this month allocated $130,000 to complete the environmental impact report. The report was scheduled to be finished last July, but Community Services Director Ron Hagan now estimates it will be finished in February or March.
Hagan said difficulties relating to the site, which includes landfill and archeologically sensitive areas, forced the delays. A tentative time line included in city reports shows construction of the sports complex wrapping up in January 2002.
