Reagan Grandson’s Case Moves Closer to Trial

VAN NUYS — The felony auto-burglary case against a grandson of former President Ronald Reagan moved closer to trial after a brief court appearance Wednesday by the defendant.
Cameron Reagan, the 20-year-old son of Michael Reagan, waived a preliminary hearing, which determines whether the evidence is strong enough to sustain the charges. He has pleaded not guilty to burglary, grand theft and petty theft.
Reagan was arrested in November after authorities said they found him and another man trying the doors of a number of parked cars on Sepulveda Boulevard near the Ventura Freeway.
A co-defendant, Chris Lopez, 20, was allegedly carrying stolen property from nearby cars.
Authorities said the stolen property was valued at more than $800 and included a briefcase, cellular phone, pager, clothing and money.
At the time of his arrest, Reagan was on probation for a misdemeanor for allegedly scratching his name into the corner of a store window.
