In a 3-2 vote this week, the City Council appointed Mayor Ruby Netzley and Councilwoman Ingrid McGuire to oversee the 10th anniversary committee. Netzley said that committee members not elected by the people should not be able to make “carte blanche” decisions that affect the city. The mayor also said the action should not be seen as a criticism of the citizens committee’s work.
