Spence Plays Guitar Too

With regard to Steve Hochman’s review of the “Oar” tribute album (Record Rack, July 10), Skip Spence did indeed play drums with Jefferson Airplane.
But it was as a guitar player in MobyGrape that he helped create their wonderful guitar-driven sound, with Don Stevenson supplying the beat.
