In other Westside tournament games:
Sylmar 6, St. Bernard 0--Ivan Lopez struck out five, walked none and pitched five scoreless innings for the Spartans, who advanced to the Blue Division championship game.
Larry Anguino hit a two-run single in a five-run second inning for Sylmar (3-1).
Newbury Park 4, Buena 0--Tyler Johnson and Joey Hamer each had two hits and Ryan Ayers pitched an eight-hitter for the Panthers in a Red Division semifinal game at Newbury Park.
Ayers struck out three and walked one for Newbury Park (4-0), which advances to the tournament’s Red Division final at 11 a.m. Saturday.
In the San Fernando Valley tournament:
Grant 6, Quartz Hill 5--Billy Karz doubled home the winning run in the sixth inning at Grant to power the Lancers into the championship game.
The Lancers will play Notre Dame at Dedeaux Field on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The first batter of the day, Jon Spielvogel, hit a home run for Grant (4-0).
Notre Dame 20, Birmingham 5--Jon Horwitz had four hits and Brendan Ryan highlighted a five-run first with a three-run double at Birmingham and the Knights advanced to the championship game.
John Puccinelli doubled and homered and Ryan and Alec Moss each had two hits for Notre Dame (4-0).
Chaminade 3, Cleveland 2--Spencer Gordon’s run-scoring double drove in the winning run in the third inning for the Eagles at Chaminade.
Jason Urquidez struck out seven in six shutout innings for Chaminade (4-0).
Jonathan Higashi hit a single for the Eagles and is eight for nine this season.
El Camino Real 12, Antelope Valley 2--Ryan Gunches hit a grand slam and finished with five RBIs for the Conquistadores (3-1) in a five-inning game at El Camino Real.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Granada Hills 6, Van Nuys 1--The Highlanders (3-0) swept in doubles play at Van Nuys.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Highland def. Canyon, 15-6, 13-15, 15-3, 12-15, 15-8--Adam Green had seven of his 15 kills in the fifth game and the Bulldogs (2-0) outlasted Canyon (1-3) in a nonleague match at Highland.
HIGH SCHOOL GOLF
San Marcos 387, Hart 396, Palm Desert 396--Mark Lauver shot a one-over-par 71 for Hart, but the Indians (4-1-1) fell to San Marcos (4-0) in a nonleague match at San Marcos Ranch Golf Course.
