Thursday question: Which is the oldest U.S. mutual fund?
And the answer is . . . MFS Massachusetts Investors Trust, which will turn 75 on Sunday. The New York Stock Exchange will help commemorate the milestone today by inviting MFS Investment Management’s chief executive, Jeffrey Shames, to ring the exchange’s closing bell. The fund has risen at an annual rate of 10.1% since opening March 21, 1924, according to Bloomberg News. An original $10,000 investment would now be worth an estimated $13 million.
