Rodman Expected to Return Soon

Determined to put a definite end to this indefinite leave, Laker Executive Vice President Jerry West and General Manager Mitch Kupchak met with Dennis Rodman on Thursday and received assurances he will rejoin the team soon.
Said Laker spokesman John Black in Cleveland: “He expects to rejoin the team within the next several days.”
The Lakers, 1-2 on the trip without Rodman, have three more games, tonight in Philadelphia, Sunday in Orlando and Monday in Dallas.
Sources said that owner Jerry Buss, Rodman’s chief supporter within the organization, has empowered West to do whatever he thinks is best to resolve the situation. Buss, meanwhile, has gone to Europe.
The Lakers reportedly insisted to Rodman that he avail himself of professional help, and asked the Chicago Bulls about the psychiatrist he saw while he was there.
Black said Rodman continues to be paid. However, Coach Kurt Rambis told reporters Wednesday that Rodman “definitely will be fined.”
Said Black: “That will be handled internally.”
