L.A. Zoo Death

Re “Baby Chimp Stomped to Death by Fellow Members of Zoo Clan,” May 18: Yoshi had a miracle baby named Toshi. Zoo officials knew that Yoshi would have trouble defending her baby against the juvenile males. Their decision was to take a chance. What would their decision be if Toshi were their baby? Hopefully, they will make a wise decision now and let Yoshi mate and have another baby. Chimpanzee mothers grieve at a loss of a baby and carry it around for days. The zoo owes it to Yoshi to let her raise a baby in peace.
