The City Council decided recently to adopt the 1998 California Building and Fire codes. The codes, which provide safety standards for construction, are updated by the state every three years. In addition, the city has adopted state uniform housing, solar energy, sign and swimming codes. The swimming codes provide mandatory child safety swimming pool measures.
