Axton as Superstar

David Shaw’s remembrance of the late Hoyt Axton was a wonderful tribute to a man who lived and enjoyed life his way (“Hoyt Axton, Content to Strike a Balance,” Oct. 30). I remember working backstage at a concert of Hoyt’s, and being impressed with the fact that he unloaded and set up all of his gear from his old bus, the “original” Honeysuckle Rose. When they pulled out of the parking lot after the show and the bus quit, again it was Hoyt who hopped out with a couple of wrenches and got it running again.
I just disagree with Shaw on one point. Hoyt was a superstar, just not enough people knew about him!
