No Charges in Pet Sheltering in Flood

A professional pet sitter in Millstone, N.J., who allegedly broke the law by taking in nearly 100 animals left homeless during Tropical Storm Floyd is off the hook. Recognizing the “extraordinary circumstances” around the September flooding, Millstone officials agreed to drop a charge that Lorraine Zdeb violated a zoning ordinance, said the borough attorney, Stephen M. Offen. In return, she will not use her home and 5 1/2-acre property as a shelter again unless she gets permission, Offen said.
