‘Iron Giant’s’ Fate
Charles Solomon missed one reason, perhaps a small reason but still a reason, for the low box office of “The Iron Giant” (“It’s Here; Why Aren’t You Watching?,” Aug. 27). Consider a working adult who wishes to take his or her children to see the movie. Weekdays are out, and weekend days are filled with other activities. If a working adult decides to take the kids in the evening after some dinner, surprise! There are no theaters, or at least extremely few, that play the movie after 6 p.m. Even the 20-theater monsters can’t schedule a showing at 6:30 or 7 p.m.
Working-adult response? Soccer’s starting, school’s opening . . . I guess we’ll have to wait for the video, kids.
